Wardrobe Essentials

Having a wardrobe for all year and all occasions is the perfect way to be ready to create any outfit. I've put together a list of the top things everyone should have in their wardrobe!

Tops
Basic tees ― Plain shirts are key to any simple outfit. Having a white, grey and black shirt lying around can help bring together any look.
Shirts ― Plaid and denim shirts are perfect for any outfit or as just another layer in the winter weather.
Blouses ― Chiffon are one of my favourite items. They can glam up an outfit for an occasion or add a classy twist to a causal outfit.
Jumpers/Sweaters ― Oversized and cropped sweaters are perfect for the colder weather where layering is key. They keep you warm and comfortable while still looking your best. With so many different looks it's a must-have for winter!

Jackets

Leather jackets ― The ultimate jacket for every outfit. I class this as a necessity. It's perfect with pretty much everything and can never go out of style.
Denim jackets ― Another basic piece which can really spruce up a wardrobe. With several different styles, it's easy to mix up an outfit with this one item.
Parkas ― Cute and cozy which is perfect in the winter weather. Popular with everyone and easy to style, it is great to wear for those casual days.
Blazers ― The ultimate way to smarten up a casual outfit. Easy to style for job interview, dinner dates and parties, there is no reason not to have one.
Cardigans ― Great for throwing on in the mild weather. Simple addition but toasty and comfortable!

Bottoms

Jeans ― The most basic item anyone should have. From plain black to bright patterns, cropped to high-waisted there is so much variety with so many styling options.
Shorts ― Perfect for the summer heat and can not go wrong. Easy to style and great for casual looks.
Skirts ― Skirts help to flatter anyone and any outfit. Super simple to style in both summer and winter and definitely popular all year round.
Jumpsuits ― Great for those hot days when tight clothes isn't an option. Super airy and a stylish way to keep cool.

Dresses

Little black dress ― Needed for those formal occasions and never goes out of style.
Maxi dresses ― Perfect for the hotter weather. Needless to say a must have item.
Everyday dresses ― Self explanatory but definetly useful to have around. From short summer dresses to skater dress, they can cover all the bases.

Shoes

Sneakers ― Such as Converse, Keds and Vans. Super comfortable and helps makes outfits look effortless yet still trendy.
Brogues ― Great for those special occasions and dressing up a casual outfit.
Sandals ― With so many unique styles, it's hard to choose which you can wear for the entire summer. But it's a must have.
Heels ― Necessity for those formal occasions and gatherings.
Boots ― The biggest shoe trend for the entire year. Perfect for the winter weather and even festival outfits. One of the first things you should look for.

Accessories

Handbag ― Shove your junk and be on your way. Easy to style with any outfit.
Purse ― From a wallet for everyday outfits to a sleek clutch purse for the more dressy up outfits, it can really bring an outfit together.
Jewellery ― One of the easiest items to find and wear. Helps give your outfit that little extra something.
Scarfs ― Great addition to any outfit and also the best way to be snug and warm when it's chilly.

Blogger Interview: victoiresstyle

I recently interview the lovely Victoire from France! She's a fashion blogger with an amazing sense of style and taste! I am a big fan of her blog and I think follow her blog victoiresstyle.tumblr.com is a perfect idea!

Tell me a little about yourself?
My name’s Victoire and I’ll be 17 in September, I currently blog as victoiresstyle on Tumblr. I’ve also just moved my Wordpress blog to Blogspot and renamed it; so you’ll also hear from me as “Victoire, Who?”. Also, I’m French but I’m fluent in both French and English which is why you’ll mainly find me blogging in English!

How did you start blogging?
I got into blogging this year as I was home-schooled and felt lonely and having experienced Tumblr and seen that the community was extremely welcoming and friendly made me think that blogging could be my creative outlet. To top that, I’ve always loved fashion, when I was younger I’d dress my dolls and make them catwalk through my room, I’d make collages of mood boards and I’d DIY accessories to wear with my school uniform! Putting the two ideas wasn’t too difficult and in late February, early March 2013, Victoire’s Style was born!

What would you say your blog is about?
My Tumblr is a mix of outfits of the day, or OOTD for short, inspiration, requested and non-requested clothing sets and my daily rant on cute boys and boy-bands. My Blogspot will be much less over the place and I’ve decided to only feature outfits, opinions on trends/outfits/collections and snaps of my travels.

How would describe your personal style?

I always find it hard to express my style in terms of words! I’d say my style’s quite classic, but that I always like to edge it up a little. I like comfortable clothes, ones that I’ll be able to wear an entire day without breaking down and screaming “why am I wearing this?” But overall, the word that really sums up my style is ever-changing.

Where do you get your inspiration?
My main fashion inspirations are Danielle Bernstein, Eleanor Calder, Alexa Chung, Kendall Jenner, Victoria Beckham and Miranda Kerr. Then, I’ll also be inspired by fellow bloggers, looks I see in magazines or from people on the street!

Who are your favourite bloggers?
My favourite bloggers (outside Tumblr) are Danielle Bernstein from We Wore What whom I admire for her ability to put an outfit together (which will always look amazing, no matter what) and for her edgy take on fashion, Jenni Radosevich from I Spy DIY who has really kept my DIY creative juices flowing, Margaret Zhang from Shine by Three for her amazing Instagram feed which I’m obsessed with and finally Shea Marie from Peace Love Shea, Rumi Neely from Fashion Toast and Jennifer Grace from Native Fox for their amazing outfits which never cease to inspire me!

Name one item in your closet you can’t live without and why?
Probably my Topshop Leigh jeans to be honest, this seems like the world’s most boring answer but they’re the only jeans I’ve found which are long enough for my spidery long legs! Moreover, they’re super comfortable and so flattering which means I basically wear them all the time! In terms of shoes, I’d say my trusty low top white Converse which are my go to travel shoes!

What is currently on your wishlist?
A denim dress, a white shirt and jackets! You can never have too many jackets! Or shoes.

What trends do you think should never become popular?
The Jeffery Campbell Lita boots! If there’s one thing I can’t stand it’s those shoes! Otherwise, I’m pretty tolerant of other trends, people have different tastes to mine and I accept that!
